Peruvian journalist assassinated on the northern Pan-American Highway

Juan Fernando Núñez Guevara was attacked by armed men on a motorbike while travelling with his brother. The assailants intercepted them in an area known as “Curva La Barranca”, on the northern Pan-American Highway, before opening fire at point-blank range on the journalist, who died at the scene. His brother was seriously injured and rushed to the Tomás Lafora Hospital in Guadalupe, according to RSF information. The modus operandi is identical to that of the two other assassinations of journalists committed in Peru this year. Both were carried out by killers on motorbikes.
