Ecuadorian journalist executed in Puerto Viejo
Beheading
Journalist Gonzalo Fabricio Zamora Loor, 41, was murdered in the early hours of June 15, 2025, in an armed attack in Portoviejo, Manabí, Ecuador. The crime has caused shock not only because of the violence with which he was executed, but also because Zamora was a well-known communicator on the local scene, with a career marked by his commitment to reporting and social work.
Zamora was known for his work covering community events, social activities, and issues of public interest. Although he wasn't part of national networks, his work had earned him recognition in Portoviejo, particularly in the University Citadel, the area where he was murdered.
