Veteran Filipino journalist shot dead in home

Senior journalist Juan “Johnny” Dayang was shot and killed when an unknown gunman fired into his Barangay Andagao residence in Kalibo, in Aklan province, on April 29.
The veteran publisher of the Philippine Graphic Magazine was also a former mayor of the city of Kalibo located in the north-west of Panay island, the main transportation hub for the resort island of Boracay. According to his housekeeper, Dayang was watching a news program when a masked gunman fired three shots from the home’s perimeter fence through the living room window. He was rushed to the Dr Rafael S Tumbokon Memorial Hospital with wounds on his neck and back but was pronounced dead at approximately 8:33 pm.
