Freelance reporter shot dead in southern Myanmar

Htet Myat Thu, a freelance reporter who contributed to the local Than Lwin Times, was shot and killed by security forces during a raid on his family home in southern Mon State, according to news reports.
Win Htut Oo, a journalist with the local Democratic Voice of Burma (DVB) who had been living at the house since July, and two members of the anti-junta Kyaikhto Revolution Force armed group were also killed in the early morning attack, those reports said. The insurgents are one of several armed groups resisting the military government since it took power in a 2021 coup.
