Local reporter shot and killed covering a conflict in Chad
Shooting
On February 9 2022, unidentified assailants in Chad’s southern village of Sandana shot and killed Evariste Djailoramdji, a reporter who worked for local broadcaster Lotiko Radio. He was there covering a violent conflict which had broke out in the area, according to local media reports.
In the afternoon of Feb 9, Djailoramdji sent a report to his colleagues that “people draw arms everywhere in the village and the population flees to take refuge in the bush.” The station lost contact with Djailoramdji about half an hour later. The journalist is thought to have been shot and killed.
Besides being a reporter, Djailoramdji also worked as a teacher and had seven children.
