Somali journalist killed
Details
Daud Omar was shot dead together with his wife Hawo Abdi Aden in their home in Baidoa on Wednesday night when unknown assailant broke into their house.
Area police commissioner Col. Mahat Hassan has blamed armed group Al Shabaab for the killing.
Though the group hasn’t confirmed or denied the accusations however it has previously claimed the responsibility of attacks meted against journalists mainly those linked to the government.
SIMHA Chairman Hassan Ali Gesey has called upon south western regional state authorities to immediately investigate the killing.
“We call upon Baidoa authorities to investigate the perpetrators of the heinous act and bring before justice,” he said.
“Somalia government should do more to stop the increased targeting of Somali journalists,” he added.
