The death is believed to be the first time a journalist has died on assignment since sectarian violence erupted in December. Brice Oundagnon, with the newspaper Le Democrat, said Desire Sayenga died early Thursday after being wounded on Tuesday. Sayenga was shot twice and left for dead by his assailants.
