Kawa Ahmed Germyani, editor of the Rayal magazine and a correspondent for the Awena newspaper, was shot to death at his home in the southeastern Kurdistan town of Kalar.
Germyani, 32, was know for his reports on corruption in the autonomous Kurdistan region.
News reports said that he had received threats because of his reporting.
