Outlawed Maoist guerillas killed a journalist in Bihar after abducting him.
Police officials said Maoist Communist Centre (MCC) guerillas killed Naveen Kumar Verma in Gaya district Saturday. He was working for the Patna edition of Hindi daily Dainik Jagran. This was the first ever killing of a journalist by Maoists in the state that has become a hotbed of extremist violence. The MCC guerillas abducted Verma from his house in Nima village and took him to a nearby field where he was shot dead. His body has been sent to a government hospital in Gaya for postmortem.
