Prudencio Melendres, a photojournalist for the daily tabloid Tanod was shot dead on 31 July in front of his house, in the capital city of Manila.
According to reports, as he was leaving his house, three gunmen approached Melendres. One of them shot him in the back and in the abdomen. He died instantly.
He was also the cousin of Alberto Orsolino, a photographer for the tabloid Saksi, who was murdered in May, in what is suspected to have been a revenge killing.
