The journalist was abducted at 5.00am from his parents home in Borallasgamuwa, South of Colombo.
He was found shot dead three km from his home. Journalist Sampath Lakmal de Silva worked in a number of media institutions as a full time journalist until April this year. He was the defence correspondence of Sathdina weekly before becoming a freelance journalist.
