Other non-natural
A journalist was ambushed and stoned by attackers who left him fatally injured in the rural area of Takalghat near Nagpur in Maharashtra state, central India, on 8 June 2006.
Aran Narayan Dekate died in hospital two days later. Fellow journalists in Nagpur told Reporters Without Borders that his death was very likely to be linked to articles he wrote in the Marathi-language regional daily Tarun Bharat. He was the second journalist to be killed in India since the start of 2006.
