Road accident
Fred Agwu, photo journalist covering the Gateway Games, died after he was knocked down by a hit and run vehicle.
The incident happened in front of the MKO Abiola Stadium while Agwu was looking for a vehicle to convey him back to his hotel. Eyewitness account said that Agwu and another colleague, Akpan Williams of the Pan African Magazine, Lagos were standing in front of the stadium when the driver of the pick up lost control and ran into them.
