Francois Latour
Shooting
Caraibes FM radio personality, theatre figure and publicist Francois Latour was shot in the stomach after being kidnapped on his way home.
A Haitian police spokesman called the murder a sign of the resurgence of criminal killings in the capital. He added that the authorities are ready and willing to take appropriate measures to deal with it. Latour's killing follows last week's murder of another prominent radio journalist Alix Joseph, who was the manager of Radio Provinciale in Gonaives. Thousands of demonstrators staged a protest Tuesday over Joseph's assassination in the northern port town. The United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti has condemned the attack and pledged to help authorities investigate and prosecute the killers.
