A correspondent of Hindi daily 'Hindustan' was shot dead by unidentified persons in the Samastipur district of northern Indian state of Bihar Tuesday night, police said.
Vikas Ranjan (32) was gunned down by three motorcycle-borne men in front of his office in Rosera town in the district. The assailants, who were waiting outside the office, fired several shots at Ranjan when he came out. Ranjan was rushed to a local hospital where he was declared brought dead.
The reason behind the murder is not yet known, but some personal dispute could be behind the incident, police said. Expressing shock over the killing of Ranjan, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar directed state police chief D N Gautam to get the incident probed promptly.
