Road accident
Akila Jacobs, a National Communications Network (NCN) journalist, was fatally injured when the minibus she was traveling in collided with a truck.
Akila Jacobs, a mother of a two-year old son, died from severe head injuries on the way to the hospital. According to reports, the driver was traveling at a fast rate of speed and lost control of the minibus when the other vehicle involved suddenly slowed down to turn and he slammed into the back of the truck. The accident occurred just a half mile from the site of one of Guyana’s worst accidents.
