Pierre Fould Gerges
Shooting
The vice-president of the daily newspaper Reporte, Pierre Fould Gerges, was murdered by two unknown men at a service station in the Chuao neighbourhood of Caracas.
It is known that the victim, 48, was shot at least 12 times from a motorbike by the passenger. The body of the economic daily's manager ended up lying on the public road. It is alleged that it could have been an attempt on the life of the owner of the firm, Tannous Gerges, who owns the vehicle and is similar in physical appearance to the victim, a legal adviser to the daily has said. The lawyer said that the board of the daily and he himself had received all kinds of threats by email and anonymous phone calls, among other things, due to the allegations of corruption published daily in Reporte.
