Lito Agustin
Shooting
Lito Agustin, who hosted a programme on local radio station DZJC, was ambushed by two men as he and his nephew rode a motorbike in Laoag city, police chief Superintendent Sterling Blanco said.
Agustin, 37, was killed in a volley of gunfire but his companion was unhurt. The identity of the attackers was not known. Agustin reportedly survived another attack three days before 10 May national elections, when unknown gunmen opened fire on his home in nearby Bacarra town. Andy Vital, news director for the station's parent outfit Manila Broadcasting, told AFP that Agustin may have been killed to silence him. "Agustin has been vocal in criticising graft and corruption in Bacarra," Vital said.
