Arun Simhaniya, publisher of the Janakpur daily newspaper, was returning home when gunmen riding on motorcycles shot and killed him.
The publisher of a daily newspaper in southern Nepal, Simhaniya was shot three times and died before reaching the hospital. A little-known group calling themselves the Rajan Liberation Group called local newspaper offices in the area and claimed responsibility for the attack. Janakpur is about 125 miles (200 kilometers) southeast of the capital, Katmandu.
