Torture
On 12 April, it was revealed that leading independent newspaper Al-Wasat's founder, Karim Fakhrawi, had died in government custody.
Fakhrawi was detained on 5 April. The authorities said that he had died of kidney failure, but his family and other observers believe he was tortured to death.
