Journalist and TV producer Adán Benítez was shot to death on the night of Monday, 4 July 2011.
The incident occurred in La Ceiba, Atlántida department, in northern Honduras. According to police who arrived at the scene, the journalist was heading home when he was stopped on the street by two individuals who robbed him and shot him in the head.
The police believe that robbery was the motive for the incident. Nevertheless, C-Libre's sources in La Ceiba explained that just a week ago, Benítez had called into the "Diario de la Mañana" morning programme on Channel 45, to denounce a car theft ring, even noting that he knew some of the criminals.
