Pajhwok's reporter was among five people killed in fighting that erupted after suicide attackers stormed several government buildings in Tarin Kot, the capital of central Urozgan province, on Thursday 28 July, officials said.
Ahmad Omid Khpolwak's body was brought to the Urozgan Civil Hospital from the scene of fighting, Public Health Director Khan Agha Miakhel confirmed. The journalist was in the Radio and Television Department at the time of the incident. Moments after the fighting began, the reporter, who also worked for the BBC, sent his brother Javed an SMS, asking family members to pray for his safety. Soon afterwards, hospital authorities informed Javed of his brother's death.
