A Dominican journalist who reported on alleged ties between a prosecutor and drug traffickers was kidnapped and killed in the eastern city of La Romana on Monday 1 August.
Unknown assailants shot Jose Silvestre twice in the stomach and dumped his body at a spot between La Romana and San Pedro de Macoris. Silvestre, who hosted a news program on the regional network Cana TV, said on the air that La Romana prosecutor Jose Polanco Ramirez had links to drug trafficking.
