Brazilian journalist gunned down 37 days after his colleague is killed
Shooting
Photographer Walgney Carvalho was killed Sunday night (14.04.2013) in a city nearby Ipatinga, in the state of Minas Gerais.
He was in a bar when a man in a motorcycle shot him twice. The photographer worked for the Vale do Aço newspaper. In March 8th 2013, a reporter who covered police issues for the same newspaper, Rodrigo Neto, was killed in Ipatinga. The MO was basically the same: a gunman, a motorcycle, a bar.
An anonymous call to the State House of Representatives assured that Walgney, the photographer, was aware of who might have killed Rodrigo Neto, the reporter. Abraji urges that local and national authorities work closely to put an end to impunity and punish those who perpetrated both crimes.
