One journalist killed, two wounded in Peshawar rally blast

The blast took place at 8.30 am just after the arrival of the vice president of the Awami National Party (ANP) Ghulam Ahmed Bilour. Tariq Aslam, a sub-editor at Daily Pakistan, was killed and Azhar Ali Shah and Ahtisham Khan, who worked for Daily Pakistan and Express News Peshawar, were wounded. Sixteen people died and more than 60 were injured at the the rally ahead of next month's elections, according to local news reports.  The Pakistani Taliban, which has repeatedly targeted the ANP, claimed responsibility for the blast. 

Last Sunday, the Pakistani Taliban said they were responsible for a blast which killed local ANP leader Mukaram Shah.  Source: Rural Media Network Pakistan / Dawn.com
