The International News Safety Institute (INSI) is delighted to announce its first new member of 2018 – VICE News.

The New York-based digital media and broadcasting company joins the world’s top media outlets including Reuters, the BBC, Swedish Radio, CNN and Al Jazeera who are all INSI members. “We're pleased to welcome VICE News as members of INSI,” said INSI director Hannah Storm.

“As such significant players in the new media industry, they are making important and informed decisions daily to support their journalists to stay safe, be that physically, digitally or psychologically. We hope our INSI network will help them in this decision making process, and we look forward to VICE News also helping inform our wider community from a safety perspective.”

INSI is a member-based safety organisation offering a vital forum for networking and information sharing via our membership portal, alerts and advisories, workshops, regional meetings and webinar discussions. Last year we expanded our network to include Al Arabiya, Associated Press, Bonnier, TV4, the GroundTruth Project and Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR). Sharbil Nammour, VICE’s Global Head of Security and Risk, said VICE News is proud to support INSI’s vital work at a time when journalists around the world are facing unprecedented threats to their safety.
