The International News Safety Institute will be launching the first book dedicated to the safety of women journalists on March 8, and invites you to its launch.
"No Woman's Land: On the Frontlines with Female Reporters" provides an unprecedented insight into the safety of women journalists working in conflict and danger zones and will be launched to coincide with International Women's Day.
Forty women journalists from more than a dozen countries, including renowned CBS correspondent Lara Logan, have written of their amazing experiences. They describe the risks, the challenges and the emotional and physical impact on their lives.
Triggered by the shocking assault on Lara Logan in Egypt in 2011, the book highlights the unique safety concerns faced by newswomen.
As well as telling the revealing stories of brave women journalists the book contains safety advice and guidance for women in the media who often risk their lives to bring us the news.
A panel of prominent journalists will debate the issues highlighted in the book at the London launch. They include the renowned war photographer Kate Brooks, Sky News Head of International News Sarah Whitehead, BBC News executive Andrew Roy and the CNN correspondent Nima Elbagir.
In addition a number of the book's contributors will also be available for interview.
Copies of "No Woman's Land" will be available to buy at the launch, at a cost of £20. Proceeds from the book will go to safety training for female journalists. We will only be able to accept cash or cheques at the event, but the book is already available to pre-order on INSI's website www.newssafety.org
Sponsored by Thomson Reuters and hosted at their Canary Wharf office, the event is free to attend but pre-registration is essential for security reasons.
Registration has been extended until March 5 but spaces are limited. Please RSVP to info@newssafety.org
