Bonnier News becomes INSI member

The International News Safety Institute (INSI) is delighted to announce that the Swedish media group Bonnier News has become our newest member.

Based in Stockholm, Bonnier News is the Swedish arm of the Nordic region’s leading media company and publishes a number of daily newspapers. INSI is a member-based safety organisation offering a vital forum for networking and information sharing via our membership portal, alerts and advisories, workshops, regional meetings and webinar discussions.

Bonnier News joins a growing network of INSI members including Reuters, the BBC, Swedish Radio, CNN, Al Jazeera and many more of the world’s top news outlets.

"We are really pleased that Bonnier News has decided to become an INSI member and we look forward to being able to support our colleagues there who are facing changing threats to their journalism and learn from their experiences,” said INSI director Hannah Storm.

“INSI brings a real value in terms of providing a network of information-sharing on issues what we hope will help Bonnier News - and our other members - make decisions and deployments to help keep their journalists safe wherever and whenever they work.”

This powerful INSI network is needed now more than ever. Our research has shown that on average two journalists or media workers are killed every week, year in year out, doing their job.

"Journalists are very exposed and we are constantly seeking new methods to protect our employees, without adversely affecting their ability to perform their work,” said Bonnier News’ Chief Security Officer Crister Ohlsson. “I believe that by becoming INSI members we can continue to improve our security work, and hopefully contribute to others with our experience".
