Turkish radio presenter murdered, reportedly for his content

Radio Rahmet FM presenter Hazim Özsu was murdered on the evening of March 9 in the Turkish city of Bursa, at his home.

The suspected killer was a long-time listener of Özsu's show, which apparently had religious content. After being apprehended by local authorities, the suspect alleged that he disliked some remarks he heard Özsu say on the airwaves. The International Press Institute (IPI) and Director-General of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay, have denounced the killing and called for a thorough investigation into the murder.
