Journalist and his wife murdered after receiving threats from militia forces

In the early hours of August 14, Congolese broadcaster Joel Mumbere Musavuli, who worked across television and radio, was assassinated alongside his wife by suspected militiamen.

Musavuli had previously received threats from militia groups after he presented a programme which investigated armed groups in the DRC. He was stabbed in the early hours of the morning, alongside his wife, whilst in the hostile Ituri region.
