C. African Republic journalist killed, another critically wounded in latest fighting

Journalists say a local reporter has been killed in Central African Republic and another critically wounded in a volatile neighborhood of the capital.

The death is believed to be the first time a journalist has died on assignment since sectarian violence erupted in December.

Brice Oundagnon, with the newspaper Le Democrat, said Desire Sayenga died early Thursday after being wounded on Tuesday.

Sayenga was shot twice and left for dead by his assailants. Journalist Rene Padou was wounded in a separate attack and remained in critical condition Thursday.
