A Reuters stringer was killed on Sunday (March 2) in Mansehra, Pakistan when unknown gunmen shot him in the neck.

Abrar Tanooli, who was also General Secretary of Mansehra Press Club and a reporter for the local daily Mahsib newspaper, was travelling with his family in a car when the attack happened.

According to reports, Tanooli had received threats for reporting on operations in Swat and IDPs activities in Mansehra. He had been given security several months back but this had been withdrawn.

The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) called for countrywide protests on Tuesday (March 4) following the attack.
