Russian journalist Oksana Baulina dies under shelling in Kyiv

The journalist was killed by shelling in Kyiv while on an editorial assignment for The Insider, a Latvia-based investigative news website.

Baulina was filming the destruction left from the shelling of the Podolsky district of Kyiv when she came under rocket fire by Russian forces and died, alongside a civilian.

Prior to joining The Insider, Oksana worked for Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny’s Anti-Corruption Foundation. After the organisation was included in the list of extremist organisations, it was forced to leave Russia.

As a correspondent, Oksana went to Ukraine, where she made several reports on the ground in Lviv and Kyiv for The Insider.

“We will continue to cover the war in Ukraine, including such Russian war crimes as the indiscriminate shelling of residential areas that kill civilians and journalists,” The Insider said in its statement.
